H2B Insurance
Your H-2B Program does not include medical insurance, but it is highly recommended that while you are in the United States, you should have some insurance in case you become ill or are injured. AAG offers affordable medical insurance for the time you are in the United States.
Purchase of the insurance is not mandatory or required, and some employers will provide insurance for you after an introductory period (typically after your first 90 days of employment), but many will not. It is a very good idea to have some kind of insurance for the entire time that you are in the United States. Medical costs, such as a doctor visit, are often $200 - $500 USD for a single visit, and a visit to a hospital can easily cost $2,000 or more per day, not including doctor, lab or medicine costs.
Eligibility and Length: You are eligible for this insurance as long as you are outside of your home country. We recommend that you purchase the insurance before your program starts, though you may also request it after the program has begun; however, you must purchase insurance for at least the length of your program. You can also extend it beyond the time that your program ends, in case you decide to extend your program and stay outside of your home country.
What is the Cost of the Insurance? The cost of the insurance is $43 USD per month. You can purchase it in segments of two weeks or one month. Any time period of up to two weeks will be charged for the full two weeks (or $21.50). There are no refunds if you decide to return to your home country. Payment in full is required at the time of the request. No partial payments will be accepted.
What do I need to do to sign up? You need to fill out an H-2B Insurance Request Form with the exact dates that you want the insurance. AAG needs to have this form faxed or emailed no later than two weeks prior to your requested start date. Payment in full is required at the time of the request. You can send us a check, money order, or you can provide a credit or debit card information. The insurance will not be requested until payment is verified. Once your insurance has been requested, we will send you a verification email.
